What happened in Germany?
- German outlets reported that the USK granted a rating, then withdrew it after an objection from one of the federal states, which triggered a second review.
- Without a valid rating, the game disappeared from the German Steam store and digital pre-orders stopped. Physical pre-orders at retailers continued.
- The game launched on 8 October without a confirmed German listing.
- On 9 October, PC Games reported German Microsoft Store and PlayStation Store listings carrying USK 18, and Steam’s German rating data shows USK 18.
The developers said beforehand that they would rather go unrated than cut the game for Germany. They have said it is not banned anywhere outright; some countries declined to rate it.
Is the German version uncut?
No German-specific version has been announced. A feature for dismembering dead enemies was reportedly removed for all players during development, so German players should get the same build as everyone else. The USK had not issued a public statement when we checked.
Was the game removed or delisted?
- Germany: temporarily removed from Steam before launch, now listed with USK 18.
- Indonesia: Steam’s rating data marks it as banned (IGRS).
- Sold-out editions: some physical and collector’s editions sold out; that is not a delisting.
- Not this game: Pinhead’s licensed chapter in Dead by Daylight was removed in April 2025. That is a separate game.
Will it come to Japan?
We found no CERO rating, and Japanese is not among the game’s supported languages on Steam. Earlier reports said digital pre-orders excluded regions using the USK and CERO systems. Treat a Japanese release as unconfirmed. The official website offers a Japanese page, but that is the website, not the game.
Which languages are supported?
Steam lists English with full audio, plus interface and subtitles in French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Russian, Simplified Chinese and Portuguese (Brazil). French players get French text but English voices.
Should I use a VPN to get around a region block?
We do not recommend it. The Steam Subscriber Agreement forbids hiding your location to get around regional restrictions or regional pricing, and your account could be affected. That applies to the demo too.
