How the final choice works
After the final Labyrinth section, the Ritual of Rebirth, Aidan learns that Sunny was pursuing her own bargain with the Cenobites. She leaves with them. A Cenobite then offers Aidan a place among them, and an opening in the wall stays open for a short time.
- Go through the opening before it closes and you accept the offer.
- Stay where you are until the wall seals and you refuse it.
There are no other branching decisions earlier in the story.
Ending 1: join the Cenobites
Aidan gives up his tongue as the first of many offerings and wakes in a dark cell, where chains tear at him while he remembers his time with Sunny, before he becomes a Cenobite. Joining does not reunite him with her. Game Rant calls this the worst outcome. It unlocks Experience Beyond Limits.
Ending 2: stay human
The Cenobite leaves and Aidan stays behind with the Merchant. He resolves to start again without repeating his mistakes, and the scene ends at sunrise. It is the gentler ending, though not a happy one. It unlocks Human After All.
How do I see both endings?
Reload the autosave the game makes just before the final scene and take the other option. You do not need a second playthrough.
Is there a third or “true” ending?
Some pages written before launch claimed four endings, including a “true” one. The launch trophy list has exactly two ending trophies, and launch-day walkthroughs describe a single choice with two outcomes. We have found no evidence of a hidden third ending.
